Trip to Seattle for Creative Live
Trip to Seattle for Creative Live: A few weeks ago I got the very cool opportunity to be in the audience for Roberto Valenzuela’s Creative Live course. I’ve followed Roberto after reading his excellent Picture Perfect Posing book and saw him post a call for audience members.I’ve always been a huge fan of creative live videos and so I thought it would be a fun experience and was surprised to get the call I had been selected. I’ve never been to the west coast and have always heard that Seattle was a cool city so it was a no brainer to go.
It was inspiring to meet and learn from someone who’s been so successful as well as meet a dozen other amazing photographers from aroundGetting my modeling game on for Roberto. I think I broke his camera lol the country. And as a video teacher it was really neat to see the behind the scenes production as well. I brought along the lovely misses and we did a little bit of shooting along the way. I wish I could have set up some time to focus on shooting but we had fun exploring. I don’t typically do landscapes so It was fun to give it a shot while visiting the absolutely breathtaking Mt. Ranier. Here’s a record of some of my favorite views from our trip.
At pike place market. I don’t know why but I laughed everytime I saw this sign.
My gorgeous wife atop of the world on the space needle.
We visited the very cool Chihuly Glass Gardens with some friends Mark and Crisanta that I met at the workshop. The museum is filled with handmade glass sculptures. Of course when you hang out with photogs in a cool spot you got to get a few cool portraits. We had fun trying to sneak a few shots and almost got kicked out three times. Photographers are such trouble makers.
My favorite shots. Right before we were done I saw the space needle reflecting in this little glass orb on the ground and thought I had to get a cool portrait with it. Crisanta returned the favor getting a silhouette of Sarah and I dancing.
We took a trip up to the San Juan Islands to try and catch a view of some whales. We were hoping for Orcas but luckily we got to see some Humpbacks.
A bald eagle…from really far away.
I’ve always wanted to see The Pike’s Place fish market since seeing them on tv a decade ago. Pretty cool philosophy about having fun while you are at work and what it can do for your success. We were going to ask to catch a fish but sarah chickened out…I swear it was sarah who chickened out not me. I swear.
The view from Kelly Park. Apparently Ranier is only visible 45 times a year. Lucky us
On our way to Ranier we saw this lake…and shot a few from a lot for sale..hmmmmm that would be like the best backyard ever.
Soooo how do you get a photo with your wife on vacation and you dont have a softbox….You hold a trigger on a timer and put a paper bag from lunch on your flash with a hair tie. Photography McGuyver Style.
